Northeast Whistle Gathering?

None of the above. West!!! Quite a bit closer to you. I91 north of Springfield along the Connecticut River. You know…the nice part of the state

I can’t make it to there that weekend it is about 5 hours (Boston is anyway so maybe 4 1/2). I think having more than one is a great idea we could have all of them on the same weekend to save any confusion as usually my vote is near NYC.

True. Sounds like there needs to be NJ/Philly and Baltimore/D.C> area whistle gatherings…come on guys, get moving on that, eh?!

Northampton is West of Boston, far west. It should only be a couple hours from NYC. edited to add: 2 hrs, 40 minutes according to mapquest.

R.

I have only lived up here for about 2 1/2 years so my knowledge of the area is not that great any ideas for a place? I mean around Philly/NYC somewhere in the middle would be good.

confused. is it set or is it not? is that that weekend? i suggest once it is set, abandon this thread and go to a new one announcing the final info.

That date and location works fine for me. Sooner we set it up, the better.

Hi folks, I have been “traveling” but am finally back. I will get on this tomorrow, and will first parse this thread carefully to see what has been set and what hasn’t.

P.S.
A bit of advice: Don’t think a friend is a friend before you’ve asked him to help you post bail…

Inquiring minds want to know…

Hey Bloomy, glad to have you back.

I’m looking forward to what you come up with. If you need help, I’ll do what I can. Need ideas? Paul and I got em.

Just say the word!

This is going to be fun. Can’t wait.

Mike

Date is fine for me but I can’t make it to Ma. that weekend if there was one simitaniously in somewhere closer to me then I could go person who posted before me you know of any good places noticing that you live in NY.

And after those, how about an Appalachian whistle gathering?

Hey folks-- check out the pics Tony Higgins posted on the SF Chiff Gathering held 6/5. Looks like they had a great time.
Where are we at with ours? Bloomie-- are you still looking into the Northampton site?

It looks like a good time was had by all! This should be a lot of fun–time to start working on my whistle again, it’s been hard to get to play the last several months.

I’m going to bring my whistles, dulcimer(rank beginner) and nose flute. I need someone to try out my Burke and tell me if it’s the whistle or whether I’m a mutant because I have a hard time with it. I’m pretty sure I know which one it is! Paul, you need to bring your nice digital camera, as well as a selection of “demos”…Jerry needs to bring along some tweeked whistles too, I bet he could unload a few at this.

Robin

Fer sure! I have some really pretty pieces in the works, and by the end of July should have a fair number of unusual timbers finished-- Yellowheart, Macacauba, Ziracote, Mun Ebony, Pau Rosa…

In addition to whistles, I plan on bringing my Schultz flute so y’all can see another side of my guru Glenn, and a mandolin. I have a pair of Bone Quint’s bones that I’ll bring along too. I don’t play them well, but in another month and a half, who knows. If not, maybe someone there can help me out.

OK, sorry folks that I have been awol. (Just kidding about having to post bail, Paul… ).

So we have some initial endorsement for the Weekend of July 24/25. Date would be Sunday July 25, 2 to 5 pm in Look Park, in Northhampton.

Let’s have a show of hands to see who could make it. Slowair, thanks for your offer to help setting it up, let’s talk about that once we’ve got the date squared away.

And about the suggestions for a meeting in NYC: That would warrant an additional meeting, I think. Anyway there are fully irregular meetings of chiffers happening in Brooklyn as it is.

I can’t go to MA for this, so if there’s one in NY, someone please do let me know (I have about a hundred instruments that I think people would enjoy trying).

In fact, I could have one here at my house sometime. I live in Pine Bush, near Middletown, and it’s an hour and a half north of NYC, two hours south of Albany.

I’m a Podiatrist in my day job… how about a show of feet?
I’m in, along with my wife Charlene. Can’t wait.

Jessie, if you end up having one at your place, we’d probably come to that one also. Maybe in Oct, when the Catskills are showing off their fall foliage…

Sounds good to me. Would a grill be available?

Robin

I will try to make Northhampton.

Jessie, Pine Bush would be an even easier trip. Just, remember to lock up the Copeland C before Lorin and/o I arrive.
