Northeast Whistle Gathering?

The thread about a West Coast Chiff and Fipple gathering has led me to wonder if people here in the Northeast might be interested in getting something together.

How far would you be willing to travel?
Good site ideas?
Dates?

I’d offer my place, but the fact is I hope to have a major hole in the ground behind the house soon, and construction chaos for a while thereafter. I’d go as far as…oh, 150 miles or so. Which places me squarely in the Northeast.

Yes…

CT, RI, southern VT and NH, western NY…about the same as Tyghress, about 150 miles from central MA.

Venues??? Don’t know about that…I guess it depends how many are interested!

Dates??? Mid June thru July?

But it sounds fun!

Robin

sounds like Western MA, say around Northampton/Amherst would be perfect

Yes!

I’m assuming this won’t be happening next week, right?

Best wishes,
Jerry

That would work. I’d go about 3 hr from here, which includes Boston, NYC, and Montreal.

Western MA would be more accessible for me.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Western MA is perfect for me too…any suggestions for location? Bloomie?

(and preferably after Arleen’s healed a bit)

R.

Count me in!

Sounds interesting and not too far from New Jersey. Hmmm.

Some of the state parks near here have picnic pavilions that they will reserve (not sure if there is a charge). That might be a fun option: we could have a cookout type thing and still be covered if it rains. Saratoga state park is one good example.

There is a park in Northampton, Look Park, that has lots of benches and little areas with picnic tables and so forth… I think that would work well, if we are considering Western Mass. I’d also be happy to look into getting a space in a restaurant for an afternoon.

LOL - yeah… I could come down to Northampton. It’s about an hour and a half from here.

How about Eastern PA? Somewhere near… Easton  Short drive for NYC and Philly… Mass is abbout 2.5 hours and Balt is about 3. DC is 4, and Pitt is like well um… depends on how fast you drive. I was in a car that took 6 hours to drive from Pittsburg to here… take most people like 3.5-4. There’s a best western in town, lotsa state parks…

Count me in. Western MA sounds good.

:sunglasses:

So, what about timing?

Second half of June? Sometime in July or August?

June or early Fall would be nice weatherwise.

Fran

Hmm, I dunno - If Laughlin’s gonna be there I might just skip the whole thing…

Just kidding dude, gimme a call at the shop when you get tired of looking at that teflon tape we were talking about.

We could always Get together at the Bethlehem PA Celtic Fest in September. I mentioned it last year and no one on this list except me went. Here’s a little Snippet from some Hotel Website:

About the Celtic Classic Festival
The Celtic Classic Highland Games and Festival in downtown Bethlehem, Pennsylvania is the largest such gathering with 150,000 attending over the last Friday, Saturday and Sunday of September each year. The event brings together the rich heritage of the Irish, Scottish, and Welsh cultures. The Celtic Classic plays tribute to professional highland athletes from around the world who compete in such events as the sheaf toss, hammer throw, Braemar stone throw, the caber toss, and others. The Celtic Classic invites the public to enjoy the many ethnic foods, crafts, and demonstrations located throughout the festival.

PA may be a little to southerly for those Yanks.
