Nice photo of a good number of the San Diego seisiuneers

Here’s a nice shot of last night’s session players at the Ould Sod here in San Diego. That’s me on the lower right. Biggest turnout in 5 years, we usually have only 4 or 5 players, but Chris, the fiddler on the lower left was visiting from Scotland, where he moved last year:

My gawd, they look… well… really happy. Nice photo Mike.

They should be. They live in one of the world’s best climates. But on the other hand, they don’t know the simple pleasure of being able to store perishables like meat products on their back porches or in their cars.

I have met many of these folks over the years. They are a good bunch

Frostily,

And I’m the fellow in the white shirt.

That was the nicest session I’ve been to at The Ould Sod in the 15 or so years (off and on) I’ve played there. One for the ages!

What should be explained is that the area in this pub that the musicians have to play in is only about 6 by 8 feet, and if there are more than about six players, we have to practically sit in one another’s laps. At the session Tuesday we took over part of the adjacent bar, forcing the patrons entering and exiting the pub to take their life in their hands and “run the gauntlet” through the middle of the circle of musicians.

Even so, we had to play in shifts of ten or eleven players. It made for an interesting and very pleasant evening.

Thanks for posting the picture, Michael.

Good picture

The fiddler in the back left is really good guy. Too bad he doesn’t live closer to me so I could get him to teach my daughter fiddle.

This reminds me that I need to get down to San Diego for a session again. It’s been years! Nice one Michael!

Happy Christmas,

Pat.
