Nice photo from our last SoCal Piper's Club meeting

Thought you might enjoy this… really captured the feeling of the afternoon session at Gabriel’s:

Wow, now there’s a real garage band!

It even includes a guy talking on the mobile phone, there in the back.

But only 4 pipers?!?

The guy on the phone is our manager

PD.

You really had to be there to appreciate the bellows-blown bodhran player’s innovative technique involving a popping strap.

Should a pipers club be for pipers exclusively as I know the london pipers club is and very strictly so,otherwise would it not be better to call it a Irish music club

Depends on how big your girlfriend is.

Hi Rory,

We normally don’t have anything but pipers. This meeting was a special one. A friend of ours, Peter Damashek, originally from San Diego now living in Osaka Japan was visiting. He’s a fiddler and guitar player so we invited friends of his along too.. I’m afraid that included musicians of the wet wind and tightly strung variety… it was a good craic though… some nice tunes emerged.

Our tionól this year will feature a fiddle class however. But the fiddler is a piper too so maybe we will be able to get away with it  Caoimhín O Raghallaigh with be teaching both pipes and fiddle at the So Cal Tionól in October, Mick O’Brien pipes, Ben Koehler reedmaking, Martin Preshaw pipemaking, David Quinn philosophy, Michael Hubbert pipemaking, Michael Burke whistles… less details at www.SoCalPipers.com

PD.

Patrick- are you sure you’re not in sales :astonished:

Sorry I missed the meeting; work beckoned (ok,yelled)

Fel,

No, if Patrick were in sales, he would have mentioned that the So. Cal. Tionól is scheduled for October 22-24 in the picturesque village of San Juan Capistrano (with it’s famous and historic mission, sunshine and gentle ocean breezes) and that the registration fee is a paltry $65 (including Saturday night concert) for those register by October 15.

At least he managed to point out the website:

Can I do nothing right

Patrick,

You’re a musician and artist with the soul of a poet–we don’t expect you to sully yourself with the dust and grime of commerce. Leave that dirty business to those of us with less talent

Sweet! My first meeting and I made it into a picture on the internet. I feel this going places

Ps. My first SoCal Pipers meeting was a blast (even though I haven’t recieved my set yet). Good People, good music, and soon…good food. We’ll talk more about that later
