Newbie findings… Came across a posting for a new pennywhistle album ‘The Humours of Ennistymon’ by Davoc Rynne. I can’t speak about the album’s tunes as it hasn’t arrived yet, and I’ve been preoccupied otherwise. Has anyone heard it or purchased yet?
He did that one some time ago, I didn’t get it but I would say it’s a bit more than a ‘whistle’ album. Davoc is a lovely guy with a bit staccato-ish nicely rhythmic style of playing and his wife and both his brothers in law are handy enough at the singing and have a way with songs

. Their nephew Conor knows about the flute and the harmonica player Johnny Hehir is both a lovely player and a lovely man. What more can you ask for?
The album was just officially launched in Miltown Malbay, Co Clare, in the presence of neighbours and friends.

the man himself:

and his wife Ann, who sang lovely as always:

Davoc gave out to me a bit for not bringing the pipes. At least I had the whistle to sit in for a while (until we had to go home to light the fire and warm up the place a bit).
As we were making our way towards the door someone sang a song about the Willie Clancy week. I realised half the pubs mentioned in the song had closed since and most people mentioned were now dead. Time creeps up on you, doesn’t it?
Nice photos. That image of Ann is awesome.

I’ll second that. Thank you for posting images.

I can now say I am in possession of more than one copy of the CD ‘The Humours of Ennistymon’ by Davoc Rynne and it is immensely enjoyable. And I’m working on my ear skills.
I wonder what whistle Davoc is playing in the photo here? ![]()
He saw my Sindt a few years ago and wanted one badly. He is playing his most of the time now.
Thank you.
Just in case anybody is around around that time:
The CD will be launched, again, on May 17th, in Ennistymon.
You got all the good stuff over there.
