New Trad. School

hello, I’m posting to let you know about a new school of music that I have founded. The O’Rinn School Of Traditional Music is based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. You can check out the website at http://www.orinn.ca. As we are brand new and just building, please stay tuned to the site for regular updates. Comments and questions are most welcome and thank you in advance for any interest!

[THREAD REVIVAL - MOD]

I just ran across this old thread, and wondered how things were going with the school?

Hey Peter, not well at all I’m afraid…too small of place and not enough interest…in order to pull it off, I’d have to charge way too much money and the feedback that I was getting was that it is just too expensive…flying here etc. We did buy 2 1/2 acres of ocean front property and may still build a facility but nothing that would be geared towards this endeavour full time. I’ve used some Irish models for the school and my idea just does not seem feasible…I do have some other “ideas” that I am investigating. I haven’t given up all hope yet.. there are some “schools” here but they do mostly Newfoundland music and it is geared towards locals…there is not enough local interest to merit such a facility, I would have to depend on people coming here and there is just too much competition for such a thing.
