New David Power recording

This arrived via e-mail this morning from Claddagh Records.

"New Irish Music Releases February 2007

CUAICHÍN GHLEANN NEIFÍN. David Power. SPINCD 1010. David is from Waterford, currently living in New York. This is his second album of superior uilleann piping. There are thirteen tracks of excellent playing, featuring totally unaccompanied pipes, and using the full capabilities of drones and regulators. He is a consummate player and covers all types of dance tunes. He has a particular sympathy for slow airs."

I checked their web site, but didn’t find any other information. Just a heads up in case anyone’s interested.

Great news.

I was listening to My Love is in America this morning on my way to work and wondering when the new CD would be released.

If anyone has information on ordering it, please post.

Their info is out of date however. David returned to Waterford in October of last year. And to the best of my knowledge, NEVER lived in New York.

This seems to be as good a time as any to announce that SCUPC will be hosting piping workshops and a concert by David Power the weekend of March 31/April 1, in San Juan Capistrano. Further details as they unfold. Hopefully he’ll have some copies of the the new CD with him.

New Jersey, New York- what’s the diff

Excellent! Anyone know when it can be expected to be stocked somewhere?

Is David still reading the site? I really love My Love is in America and am looking forward to the new one.

Where can we order? Now now now now now!!!

The smell?

New Jersey - A state you can enter for free, but have to pay to get out.

Will be in dear oul dirty Dublin for the weekend, and will try to make it as far as Claddagh Records.

…“Welcome to the Hotel New Jersey”: hasn’t really got the same ring to it, has it?

It’s not yet posted on the Claddagh Records website, but they said it should be within a few days and can then be ordered on-line.

Ok. Don’t everyone go order one all a once - save one for me.

I’m really looking forward to this. I hope he does a tour around the U.S. He’s a great guy and I hope this goes platinum.

He’s a great guy and great company… not to mention he can really squeeze that octopus.

I can’t to snatch up this new recording.

Maligning New Jersey is really dull and commonplace, usually engaged in by people from worse places. I don’t have a problem with you trash-talking North Jersey but South Jersey I’ve always found to be a very pleasant place. Lovely beaches, etc.

I believe Eamon Devalera was born in New Jersey. It saved his skin as the British refrained from executing him because he was technically American. Query: if Eamon hadn’t lived and the Republic hadn’t been established, would NPU be the powerhouse that it is for supporting our beloved instrument? Thus, my thesis is, without New Jersey, the uilleann pipes would be a lot worse off. The Garden State.

DeValera was born in New York, so it’s best to leave the Long Hoor and his possible impact on piping to another thread.

What did The Garden State have to do with David Power’s new CD again?

OK, I’ll buy that. How about some Iowa jokes, anyone?

Q: Why do football stadiums in Iowa have astro-turf?

A: To keep the team and the cheerleaders from grazing. :stuck_out_tongue:

I was BORN there man. I’ve got plenty I could say both good and bad. Any state/nation/planet/universe is gonna have it’s ups and downs. Just one of those things. “Let it be.”

Funny thing about Jersey..aside from the high taxes and industrial centers…One of the world’s best Pipers David Power lived here for over two years and I got to know him well and take lessons…BTW I have an unofficial copy of the New CD by David Power and its cracken piping stuff…You people who dont live in New Jersey just dont get it! VIVA Nueva J(h)ersey!!!
PS David has become a lurker on this site
