New David Power recording

Funny thing about Jersey..aside from the high taxes and industrial centers…One of the world’s best Pipers David Power lived here for over two years and I got to know him well and take lessons…BTW I have an unofficial copy of the New CD by David Power and its cracken piping stuff…You people who dont live in New Jersey just dont get it! VIVA Nueva J(h)ersey!!!
PS David has become a lurker on this site

The new CD - Cuaichín Ghleann Neifín - is now available from Claddagh Records, €18 from their website - claddaghrecords.ie.
there are two samples on the site, but no complete track listing.

Thx for keeping tabs on this, Emer. I have been waiting for this so I could put in an order of other CDs I was looking for, as well.

I brought a copy back with me from Dublin last weekend, but believe it or not I’ve been so tied up that I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet.

Vivement le weekend!

The CD is up on the Claddagh site.

If the samples are anything to go by, I’m going to enjoy this CD as much as his first.

I finally got off my duff and got my copy of David’s new recording from Ossian USA. Also picked up “They’ll Be Good Yet”, volume 4 of the NPU dvd tutor, and "Live At Mona’s ( includes Cillian Vallelly and Ivan Goff ). My first time dealing with the Ossian USA folks and I thought the service was very prompt and efficient.

I would strongly recommend that anyone interested in piping should buy it.

Lovely stuff, of an undeniable Séamus Ennis lineage, but without slavish imitation.

His piping is full of nice little suprises as far as ornaments. On top of the three or four airs which are titled in Gaelic so i can’t pronounce them, he does a refreshing rendition of Garryowen, reminds me of John Wayne movies, but it sounds great. The whole album is fantastic! Nice C-set.

I guess I can say it now. I was honored to do the cover art for the C.D. Many emails and long phone conversations proved what a truly nice man David is. I miss the talks.

Hello all,
I was over for the NPU bash a few weeks back and spent three days at David Power’s house in Waterford. We had a grand old time.
Presently David does not have a reliable Internet connection and so cannot participate in the Forum. He is looking into getting high speed and satellite stuff.

All the best,
Pat Sky

Save me one

No, save me one, and if there’s another available, Fel can have that one.

t

Fel, you’re going be there, remember?

As for the rest of you lot, I guess I’m going to have to start writing this stuff down

No E

Just a side note… we only have about 10 of the things… first come first server and all that?

Pat.

Got mine and its on my iPod the minute I got home. Its a great recording, a true piper’s CD. At the SCUPC concert Saturday nite, he played the Irish Washerwoman and Top of Cork Road, two chestnuts that no one plays anymore. He sang Sean O’Dwyer of the Glen and played it as a hornpipe afterwards, something I’ve got to learn.
