Have a look/listen…

Cheers, Moritz

Great news! She’s a wonderful player–I had the pleasure of taking her class in Milwaukee a couple years back, and she’s also an excellent teacher.

Thanks for that. I didn’t know of her but had heard some of her band. Very smooth technique.

BTW How do you pronounce her last name, “Geremia”?

Anyone know if she’s bluesman Paul Geremia’s daughter?

~~

I’ve always pronounced it ‘Jeremiah’, but I’ve no idea if I’m right.

Right on the money.

I have just received (and listened to) Stephanie’s CD, and agree that it’s great playing. Lovely articulation, arrangements, and tune choices.

Just got mine today. Good stuff  Love the first track.

This is so decent.

Lovely playing (from all involved) on that Alan Kelly 4tet clip. I haven’t had time to explore further…

Interesting to observe (re: recent discussions, and I mean observe as in “describe what is seen”; I intend no criticism - I think her playing is lovely), I thought, that Ms Geremia has a very “smiley” embouchure, doesn’t protrude her top lip much and, judging from that clip, doesn’t make a "typical " ITM flute sound (whatever that might be) - very wooden flute, yes, and plenty rich and round, and strong enough on low Ds etc., but also smooth and mellow. Terry should take a gander!

which flute she plays?
I’ve already heard some positive feedback about her few months ago but…
well, probably I have to give a second chance to this cd…

She plays Grinters now. I’ve heard her on Hamilton flute and she sounded amazing on that as well.

I received the CD at xmas, I’ve listened to it it intently.

She has a lovely style of flute playing that I think is smooth and flowing, not as strong as Molloy or McEvoy but pretty good all the same.

Has anyone else noticed she seems to nod her head a lot as if trying to change the note ?

I’m away for another listen…

This is a player with a lovely sound that is squarely in the tradition.

Looks to me like she’s bobbing her head in time …

If I may opine (and what else is the internet for?) this approach, which gives colour and character to the tunes, offers a much more interesting way forward for ITM than some of the “we can be FAst Reel ThrashERS too” bands that we often see spruiked as the latest up-and-coming thing.

Yep, and there are people who can appreciate both without dismissing either. So there you go.

And yes, lovely playing in that clip above.
