New album from Paddy Moloney!!

I just saw in the new releases section on Claddagh’s site that Paddy Moloney has put out an album with the poet John Montague called “The Wild Dog Rose”. I heard a few of the tracks on itunes and it seems that in concept it’s a lot like the album Liam O’Flynn did with Seamus Heaney. Almost half poetry, half music (over 30 tracks), seems he’s joined occasionally by some others like Sean Keane. He plays both pipes & whistle, and get this… on the few preview tracks i sampled, he was frequently playing… the regulators!!!
Maybe this is the closest we’ll be to a pure solo piping effort from him for a long time, maybe ever. I’m excited. Anyone else; or is this no big deal for most?

This got past me somehow. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. It’s for sale on iTunes as well.

Shoot, i’ve read about this one coming in his interview this summer, but there were not much details.
Thanks a lot for info, this is extremely important!

Is it true that Dolly Parton sings on a couple of tracks?

I downloaded the album from itunes.

34 tracks, about half of which are poetry. Of the remainder, it’s mainly pipes but still a good few whistle tracks. Only 2 or 3 of the tracks are unaccompanied pipes, so it’s not the solo piping Moloney album some people have been waiting for. Plenty of harp accompaniment and even one track with piano accompaniment. But you will hear Paddy playing his regulators.

I didn’t find the liner notes so I don’t know who the other musicians are (flute, bodhran, harp and piano). The arrangements are simple and tasteful done, which fits well with the poetry tracks.
