im starting to notice that all my posts are kind of bugging…
but i really need some advice.
what would you do if
you have a practice set with only one very problematic reed wich at the moment isnt functioning (dont think its the climate, its probably me playing with it…)
you cant reach your maker… for a few months (not phone or e-mail)
and you live in a country where there are probably a handfull of players… and its been said that one of them can make reeds, but dont really have the time for it now.
this is a very important time for me to practice cause im off to summer schools in ireland in the summer, therefor sending my chanter anywhere will be a thing im trying to avoid…
how can one handle this situation?
can other makers make reeds for a set wich isnt thiers? without the chanter?
i really dunno… but im pretty stuck, and i want to PLAY
Contact a pipemaker/reedmaker in the area you are travelling to see if they have experience reeding a chanter by your maker. Order it now and take the chance to have them send it to you. Should the reed not perform to your liking, you can visit them in your summer travels.
Hey, it is Ireland that you are going to. Surely there is more than one pipe maker in the whole country. Surf the internet, or when you land, pick up a phone book let your fingers do the walking. I don’t think you will have too much trouble finding someone to help you out.
I also emailed Charles Roberts and did not hear back from him. He has always answered back promptly, always very polite and helpful. Hopefully he is just having email problems or is swamped with work.
I find it strange that he has no reed specifications or info (except for price) on his web site. Some customer should suggest that he publish that info.
