I was wondering if anyone knew the names of these first two Polkas, the third i believe is Maids of Ardagh which I already play. I have written the notes for the first two but don’t really want to make a name up for them.

neither muireann have name for those polkas ( at least for first one…)
here is her answer for question about name for very first polka at your link …
Hi Marin, we call it Polca Dhálaigh after an accordion player from the Blasket Islands called Muiris “Dealaí” Ó Dálaigh
marin
Thank you I guess i will call it that then.
Cheers
Stu
Well, lots of polkas in particular seem to be either nameless or eponymous (“So-and-so’s”). So the second one is obviously “Stu’s Favourite” now. ![]()
Seriously, making up a name is exactly what’s done when you can’t identify it. That, or “Gan Ainm”.
And it’s posted under that title over at thesession.org…

So it seems to be valid enough. ![]()
The 2nd one might be Wallace’s Cross…

Right, that’s the same tune. It gets played a fair bit at sessions in my area, but I have no clue what local folks call it.
Thanks Folks, I really appreciate it.
I got the third polka from Louise Mulcahy, and I’m pretty sure she called it “Dan Daly’s.” Maybe the same fella?
Thanks for the name of the second one! I always play that and Dan Daly’s (the third one) together but never had the name. Not that I’ll remember it … ![]()
