Name for Reel?

Here’s another reel I have no name for. Just checking to see if anyone recognizes it. It follows well after Eddie Moloney’s.

Quinn’s CRE 2, 171.

Wow, that was fast! Just “Quinn’s”? No first name?

Thx,

Quinn the Eskimo’s

Hmmm, I just can’t seem to fit “Come on without” into the B part. :sniffle:

Fiddler’s Companion Sez:

QUINN’S REEL [1] (Ríl Uí Chuinn). AKA and see “The Doon Reel [5],” “Old Connemara Stockings,” “Padraig O’Keeffe’s (Reel).” Irish, Reel. Ireland, Sliabh Luachra region of the Cork-Kerry border. D Major. Standard. AABB’ (Flaherty): AA’BB’ (Breathnach). Breathnach (1976) notes that Sean Quinn was a flute player from Cordal who was the source for all Padraig O’Keeffe’s tunes with the name Quinn in them.

Thus Sean Quinn’s.

I love the rhythm of this tune, it’s very distinctive. It seems to go best with other Kerry reels…I play it after Donal a’Phumpa, from the playing of Denis Murphy via Caoimhin O’Raghallaigh.

Quinn’s is the first tune on Padraig O’Keeffe’s album “Sliabh Luachra Fiddle Master,” where it’s followed by O’Callahan’s and the Woman of the House.

Gee, I guess this is a pretty obscure reel, then. Seems nobody’s ever heard of it.

There’s a version of this on the Bakerswell recording.
