Help identifying a jig

I was hoping someone could help me find a name for this jig in G that I learned recently. I’ve been told that it was recorded by Julia Clifford, but I haven’t been able to find it.

I uploaded a quick recording of it.

If anyone can help, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Brendan

The Bill Black collection has it as Quinn’s or Aherlow. Apparently also in Breathnach CRE2.

More from the Fiddler’s Companion:

QUINN’S JIG (Port Uí Chuinn). AKA and see “The Aherlow Jig,” "Connie O’Connell’s (Jig) [1],” “The Money I Want,” “Ryan’s Travels,” “The Spirits of Whisky [2],” “The Three Little Drummers [4],” “Two and Sixpenny Girl.” Irish, Jig. G Major. Standard tuning. AABB. According to Breathnach (1985), the title was from County Kerry. Quinn may have been Sean Quinn, a flute player from Cordal and the source for all Padraig O’Keeffe’s tunes with the name Quinn attached. Source for notated version: fiddler Denis Murphy, 1966 (Gneeveguilla, Co. Kerry, Ireland) [Breathnach]. Breathnach (CRÉ II), 1976; No. 64, pg. 36.

MTGuru,

Thanks so much for the help. I really appreciate it.

Brendan

You’re welcome, Brendan. It’s a nice tune! Where did you learn it?

I got it from my friend Sean McComiskey who learned it from Damien Connolly. It goes with another nice tune in Em.

Glad you like it.

Our session has been playing a version of Ships in Full Sail which I believe originated with Sean as well. He has a very nice version of the third part:

|:d3 dBG | e3 efg | d3 dBG | A3 ABc |
| d3 dBG | e3 efg | dBG {B}AGA | BGG G3 :expressionless:

I don’t know if that’s original to Sean or not, but I like it
