my new whistles

hey everybody,
i some whistles from thom at the whistleshop. i’m dieing to get them. i got a clarke (original) (D), a walton’s little black “d” (D duh!), a susato kildare (C), a dixon (D), and a susato low d. i also ordered a couple of books which are “Ireland’s best slow airs” and "Riverdancedance:the music (i like the music on the riverdance cd) anyways, i ordered these on saturday so i might get them today. i have my fingers crossed!

Brent

hey again,
ok, i got my whistles and i yesterday and i played them all of yesterday (much to the dismay of my family) anyways, here’s what i think of them. my susato low d is great. it has a nice mellow town and goes up into the 2nd octave pretty well. my walton whistle wuz what i expected; that is that it wuz $5 and it doesn’t have that great of a sound but for a $5 whistle it’s pretty good. my susato c has a nice tone and is exactly like my susato d for that matter. my clarke suprised me. i wasn’t expecting what i got. it has a really nice, sort of an earthy town, and for only $10 it’s a really nice whistle. and last (but not least)is my dixon. whoa. i dont’ know what to say about that except that i love it. it has a nice sweet, mellow tone that can easily reach into in 2nd octave and a couple on notes into the 3rd octave. i find myself picking up my dixon most so i guess that’s my favorite. anyways, that’s what i think of my whistles.

Brent

p.s. i also got the riverdance music book for pennywhistle and it includes a play-along cd that has whistle playing the melody and i wuz just wondering if anybody knew that that whistle was. if you know please tell me. thanx

I finally did it! I gave in! For months I have been telling myself that all I needed was my trusty Ge-Ge-Generation D and that I would never buy any other High D whistles - after all a whistle is a whistle…

Well Brents message about getting all his new whistles got to me and I ordered from the Whistle Shop:

Feadóg Whistle, Key of D
Generation, Key of Bb, Nickel
Dixon Soprano D, Tunable

Now I know that this doesn’t comes anywhere near what most of you have, but it’s a big step for a traditional Irishman who still plays on his first Generation D from 25 years ago…

There’s hope for us all yet

Got a whole set of Generation brass whistles from the WhistleShop. This was a nice buncha whistles, ended up giving the D away, but what the heck! Tweeked them all with sticky-tack, and I like 'em! The service was great! Eagerly awaiting my Tully!

Hey Brent,

I’m glad your whistles have arrived. It’s just like Christman isn’t it. I told you about those Dixon whistles. I knew you would love it.
