I have never been able to get past the first third of the first book of that Lord of the Rings stuff.Same problem with the film..part one.

I can’t help you with the Woody Allen part, but for the other two deficiencies, I can loan you Noah, my 14 year old. He’s a walking encyclopedia of both Star Wars and LOTR. He also loves “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”. He looks like a blond Harry Potter, so you can have that thrown in, too.
Just let me know where I need to send him. I accept Pay Pal. 
Also, to my shame, I fell asleep about twenty minutes into the Hitchhiker.

While I’ve seen every Star Wars movie, start to finish, I can understand why someone wouldn’t want to see them. George Lucas is a horrible writer and director.
The Lord of the Rings, however, is my favorite book. To each his own, I suppose.
I find Woody Allen to be annoying, and not at all funny.
And I think Karan Casey has a better singing voice than Frank Hart.

Watched III on DVD last night for the first time. Disliked it, although it’s the least egregious of I-III. The best thing about it was Ewan McGregor’s performance. The worst thing about it was the casting of Hayden Chrisophersoner or whatever that poor kid’s name is. Just a dreadful actor. And, leave to George Lucas to coax a bad performance out of Samuel L. Jackson.
Some of the visuals were striking and well-done but a solid third of the movie was ruined by the hyperactive visuals. The opening battle sequence, for example, was ridiculous. The screen is so cluttered with hardware you (a) can’t tell what’s going on and (b) don’t care about it.
RE: LOTR
I was able to watch the first one only in 20 minute intervals, then would get bored & distracted. Watched half of the 2nd one via the same method and then said to myself: Why am I doing this?

I saw the Shawshank Redemption a few years ago, I really liked it. I saw The Green Mile not long after that, I liked it even more. I used to be a huge Spielberg movie fan, now it seems I’m turning to movies written by Stephen King. Is this wrong? Would it be even worse to wish for a Spielberg directed movie of a King novel? Could Stand By Me be that movie? I liked it a lot too …
I think that was directed by Rob Reiner aka Meathead from All In The Family. Loved that movie.
I’ve never seen a Star Wars movie. I’ve not seen a second (nor read a word) of either LOTR or Harry Potter. (I once had a pint under the Tolkien plaque in his old watering hole in St.Giles, Oxford.) Some Harry Potter was on TV a couple of days ago. I thought about it for a few seconds and then chose a documentary on a lost civilization in Turkmenistan. (Where does Harry Potter drink?)
I did like Hitchiker’s Guide. I like some Woody Allen although I prefer his early written works to his films. Generally I prefer slightly dark, comic, shows like ‘The Office’, ‘Nighty Night’ and ‘People Like Us.’

I sat through a VHS copy of Return of the Jedi, or one of those Star Wars films, but I didn’t pay attention, and was on the telephone most of the time.
Closest I’ve come to any of the LOTR trilogy was when I was a librarian’s aide in high school and I put them on the shelf, when they were returned. I watched the beginning part of the first movie. I also read the first and last chapters of The Hobbit.
I have not seen or read any of the Harry Potter material.
I generally am not especially fond of fantasy fiction.

I read the first Harry Potter. It was pretty good. The movie put me to sleep. I bought the second Harry Potter but I never got around to reading it. Have seen no other movies.
I love The Hobbit and the LOTR books. Movies not nearly as good, although Viggo Mortensen makes it so it doesn’t really matter.
I must not like Woody Allen very much. I have only seen “Annie Hall”. If I hear that “la-di-da, la-di-da” one more time…
I will probably try some of his other movies sometime.
My worst thing is that I am reading “The Outlander” series by Diana Gabaldon for the second time in not too many years. It was located in the “Romance” section of the bookstore where I got it.
