OK guys,as I don’t use a low D in sessions,I have been asked what is the loudest low D for session players,I know that Overton and Chieftains are quite loud but are there others that are louder?
We are talking pure volume!.
Phil.
I would say MK. Loudest Low D I’ve played so far.
Flute…
I asked the same question recently and din’t get much resopnse…maybe more people will chime in now.
MK (www.jazzwhistle.com) is one a couple of people mentioned to me.
Have you played this brand before Phil? Sounds promising but I emailed for more info and haven’t received a reply yet.

So true.
Loudest low d I have had that I can remember was my Copeland.
I played someone else’s Copeland (I’d get one if I hadn’t ordered a full set of pipes), and that was pretty loud. Not as loud as my Chieftain, and definitely louder than my Burke.
My Reyburn Wide Bore Low D is louder than the Chieftain NR (Takes more puff to).
Howard and Overton
