Looking for teacher/sessions in Southwest Ohio

Is anyone here from the southwestern part of Ohio, namely Dayton, or know of any teachers or sessions currently being held in the area? I’m really interested in learning more about the whistle and would like to be able to hook up with people more experienced than myself. Thanks!

Jim

Heya, Jim
I know of some way down south, here in Cincy–interested?

Bob

I am sorry, I cannot help you in your quest for a session in your area. The closest one I can think of to me is in Columbus, Ohio.
As of yet, I have not had the opportunity to link up with any of them yet.

I just wanted to say Hello fellow OHIOANS.
I thought that there was only one other from Ohio here. I am from Lancaster just south of Columbus.

Will you folks be going to the Dublin Irish Festival in Dublin, Ohio…

Laura

Irish American Net has the follow page:
Dayton](http://www.irishamericanet.com/B/Ohio/Dayton/IrishDa.html%3EDayton) Ohio Area - Irish Dance

If you call one of the teachers or organizers of the competition, they maybe able to give you a lead on finding a teacher and/or session.

Hope this helps you …

Bob - Yeah, I’d be very interested. Cinci’s only about an hour drive from here to the Kentucky border. Lemme know of times and locations either here or you can email me at jrohrer1@woh.rr.com. Thanks

I’m all about the Dublin Irish Festival. I just heard about it yesterday and became very excited. I don’t think I have any Irish blood in me, but I’m working on an honorary title with all the Guinness I drink LOL  We oughta get Chiff n’ Fipple t-shirts to wear to the festival so we can tell who’s who grins Cya there!

Jim

BTW, thanks for the link, Lee. I’ll check into that. Dayton seems to have a decent Irish-American community, so there’s gotta be musicians around here somewhere

Now that’s a great idea!
I plan on checking out the Burke whistles.
I plan on being there pretty much all day Sunday.

Jim,

For whistle instruction in SW Ohio, I’d highly recommend the Riley School of Irish Music (w3.one.net/~rsim/) in Cincinnati. They meet on Saturdays, and their program includes beginner, intermediate, and advanced whistle classes. You can also schedule private lessons with the instructors.

Dave Copley
Loveland, Ohio

Too slow here, Mr. Copley beat me to it!! I started taking classes at Rileys 2 weeks ago, great bunch of people, good instructors and very reasonably priced. I’m taking a beginning whistle group class, 10 lessons for $100 (for all 10 lessons, not $100 each!)
My instructor also does private lessons for $10 each. I HIGHLY recommend you check out their website.
I would also like to thank Mr. Copley, who has, I heard donated one of his flutes to the school - true class. My wife and I saw you play over in Rising Sun at the Celtic Fest, you guys packed the top floor. Good job!
