I am looking for a new whistle in the key of G any ideas? I was thinking about a Generation.
Don’t know about G, but I have a new Generation F that’s just fine. Mind you, the holes on the F are fairly close, almost uncomfortable for me, and I’m a woman (admittedly large hands, though).

Gen’s Gs are kinda squeaky. I wouldn’t reccomend going past the first octave on one unless you’re a masochist. Good for annoying the neighborhood dogs though.
Generation only makes high G. Are you looking for a high G, or a low?
My favorite tube is a Dixon low G! 
If you have the $$ to spend, Glenn Schultz makes terrific high Gs. Low ones too, including great PVC ones (low only)
I just heard a sound clip of a Parkhurst high G that sounded quite nice!

The newer Generations are real screamers - high enough to hurt. I don’t know why, either, since the antique Gens and others (brass /w lead plug) seem to be pretty mellow for their extreme range. The Gens’re cheap, though. Thom Larson at the Whistle Shop carries them.
Since I don’t think you’d find anyone who has one of the antiques and is willing to part with it, unless price is an overriding concern, I’d e-mail any of the better makers and ask:
1: Do they make high Gs?
2: Do they have any in stock and, if not,
3: How long it’s take to get one; and
4: How much, of course.

If you have the cash, Glenn Schultz makes a Thin Weasel wooden high G that is worth every single cent, and a true work of art. I make high Gs also, and have just (when I say just I mean JUST, like 3 days ago, pardner) switched to making them out of polished thinwall brass, 3/8" diameter. Loren probably has a sound file of it, and I think I have one if you want to have a listen. Also, I just posted it to Clips N’ Snips, under miscellaneous. Remember, listen to the instrument, not my awful playing…
