Generation High G

I was wondering if anyone ones a generation high G. IF so could i possible hear a sound clip of it Thanks.

I have one, but nothing to record it, sorry.

If no one else can, I’ll borrow a microphone and record a clip later (my friend who has a microphone is sleeping)

I have a nickel Gen G. If it was lower it just might be my favorite whistle.

I have no idea how to record it, though.

if you have sound recorder on your computer and a microphone you can do it that way.

Hi there,

I have a Gen high “g” (nickel) and although I have no way of recording it I can tell you that it is very sweet sounding, (if that helps explain it at all). My only complaint isn’t so much a fault with the instrument as the fact that my hands are too large. I have to squeeze the hell out of my fingers just to get them to fit over the holes. If it wasn’t for that I would play it more often. It really does sound great.

That is what everyone has told me, but i am only 13 so i probably play it with ease.

Cassidy, these guys are having you on. The real reason they’re not posting recordings is that they don’t want you to find out that only dogs can hear Gen G’s.

Whistle_along_Cassidy,

I have two Gen G and don’t play either as I’m not a bat

You can have one, if you want, and if you don’t like it you can give it back or pass it on. Please check with your parents, though, before you give out your address and name to anyone on the internet, including me. They can check my www link and contact me by email.

That said, I’d really recommend a lower whistle, the Gs are terribly piercing. The Fs are lovely (but I have only one and I’ll keep it!), if still very high. It’s amazing what difference this one note makes. Do you already have a D?

The great thing about Generation Gs is that you can fit one inside a lower keyed whistle and shake it up and down.

Be careful not to damage the fipple of the larger whistle though.

I’d be glad to send you mine, I never use it.

Since nobody else is going to post a Generation high G clip, here’s a blast from the past that some of you senoir board members may remember.
I have some of Mick Woodruff’s early Clips & Snips tunes from the original McHaffie incarnation.
Here’s Mick’s rendition of “Hanley’s Tweed” played on a Generation high G… you’ll have to ask Mick himself if it’s brass or nickel because I have no idea.
If memory serves me, I think Mick’s comment on this tune was something like “put the cat out for this one”!

Thanks for the clip, Gary!

I really dig the high whistles…if you guys think that a high G has close spaced holes, try playing a fiddle!!! What, in y’all’s learned opinion, is the ne plus ultra of G whistles?

Well, I’m certainly not Mick, but here’s another Generation high G tune for ya:
