Nothing has been said on this forum about this new CD so I take it upon me to put in a shameless plug for this wonderful recording.

I agree with Peter, this is a must-have CD… I’ve been listening to it nearly daily since coming back from Miltown Malbay… such relaxed lovely playing…
I’ve not heard the CD yet…something I hope to rectify soon. I did, however hear a clip online of Mick and Caoimhin playing on RTE’s “Late Session” show and it was truly lovely stuff.
Nice lookin’ cover too.
 yeah yeaah, we managed to convince Mick 's daughter Aoife that it took ages at the hairdressers to make Coiminh’s hair stand up like that. She believed it too.
Is that your photograph on the cover, Peter? I can’t wait to pick up that CD…
great stuff lads!!
i know mick’s very fond of his burke aluminiums, but does he play composites on here aswell?
I notice from the tracklist that there are two sets of jigs that feature Munster Buttermilk. That makes me wonder if they recorded the same tune twice, or if one of them is the three-part jig that Seamus Ennis called Munster Buttermilk, but that is more commonly known as Behind the Haystack… Ahhh, can’t wait for this one.
Ah, but it’s the subtle, simmering tension in the composition that really make it stand out–the way Mick is leaning up against the boat; the slightly naughty look in Caoimhin’s eye.
Mapplethorpe could have done no better.
I’d say Mapplethrope wouldn’t have dragged them out to Seafield pier on a rainy sunday afternoon in november.

I just got mine yesterday–what a delight! Unhurried, uncluttered, very musical. Thanks for the recommendation.

My thoughts on this album precisely, Carol! It’s marvelous! ![]()
A most excellent photograph, Peter. Mapplethorpe would’ve dragged them off somewhere else!
For me, it took a while to grow accustomed to the CD. Subtle but great stuff.

Different tunes. The first is a version of Frost is All Over. Very, very tasty. Get this CD, Bloo. Now.
Great photos, Peter!
Bumping this sucker up - My Christmas wish came true and I’m really enjoying this CD!! Lovely playing, recordings and lovely photos - fine job to all!
P.S. Peter>> Mick’s drones sound “grainy” (the best adjective I can come up with) to me. Can you explain why?
Cheers,
PR
The weekend we did the photoshoot I heard the recordings as they had them, Mick asked me what I thought about the drone-sound, they were fussing over it. I suppose that is how froment pipes sound. They re-recorded some track around Christmas a year ago. I don’t know, to close I suppsoe to comment further.
Mick had a digicam and pointed his lens a few times. Returning the favour I suppose, we all looked a bit rough by the end of the weekend.

I think this is a great album as well . . . but I have to admit that I too don’t like the drone sound. Kind of hoarse.
It doesn’t really distract from the playing all that much, though. The album reminds me of The Fire Aflame in that you don’t have to play stuff at breakneck speed to make it interesting.

Absolutely splendid work throughout. The drone sound is very buzzy but I like that. Mick’s pipes are very nicely in tune and I like the relaxed feel of it, like we’re listening in on a kitchen session. It’s brilliant, it’s inspiring, and I’m grateful they took the time to record it.
… Get this CD, Bloo. Now.
Just got mine, finally. Can’t wait to give it a close listen.
I heard them playing on RTE last week, on Ceili House. Then listened at
their website. They sound brilliant.
Where do you get this cd?
