Very Nice Ups CD

I bought a CD last week called “The Whirlwind” by fiddler Paddy Glackin and Piper Robbie Hannan. Very nice work, the majority of the music are reels & jig.

Robbies use of regulators is fantastic…a lot of cordination there…

This is a fairly old CD. If we are to bring up every CD that has been released in the last thirty years this board will quickly get flooded.

Good grief! He was reporting on a CD that he recently discovered and appreciated.

His post was far more useful than your impertinent reply.

And…what will it mean if the board floods? Will my computer get wet?

I got a gift of the cassette in 1996 or 1997 and played it until the tape snapped. I’ve spotted the CD on eBay recently. I’d love to get my hands on it again. We don’t hear enough of RH’s piping.

I have the same CD but title is in irish as Seidean Si

Cheers

I definetly agree. The Glackin/Hannan album is one of my all time favorites. Excellent find Keith.

DJM:

I have never heard of Seamus Ennis. He wouldn’t be from Detroit would he? Hold on…I have heard of him, he grew up on the southside of Chicago and played a mean Sax…Anyway could you please tell me more about him and where I can find some of his CD’s?

Thanks

There’s one out there now!

My point is…those folks new to Irish music and piping have every right, and should be encouraged, to write about their discoveries, their journey with the music and pipes, and whatever else may be on their mind. This forum does not need some C&F veteran surfer chiming in to say that the issue raised by the newcomer has been discussed. Of course, by all means, guide the individual to a useful link but, don’t be rude and unwelcoming…and speak of virtual boards being flooded.

I’m bad. Sorry to all.

KD, I had gotten quite a few CD’s to listen to but not that one. I’m glad to learn about it.

djm, , thanks for the apology. Even if a CD is old, there are always some new people coming in who need to know good listening sources. I searched the forum pages pretty carefully before I ordered quite a few, and if this one had been mentioned, I must have missed it. You just have to be patient with us! :lol:I’m sure you can’t wait to hear about my journey with the pipes—I’m going to drag you along every hellish inch with me!

For the new folk, the names Seamus Ennis and Willie Clancy are most likely the two biggest names in Uilleann piping.

The Hannon/Glackin CD is there on its own, too:

Thanks for mentioning this CD. It’s not the only thing that’s getting old.

For good a good introduction to a wide varitey of piping, be sure and check out The Drones and the Chanters parts 1 and 2. Vol. 1 is the old farts, vol. 2 is the new(er) stuff. A great listen.

I actually bought my copy off of eBay.

DJM: I am a hard kidder…no reason for an apology… I admit I have a bad habit of not researching for previous threads so things do get repeated.
