They'll be good yet!

Not a whistle in sight content-wise but for those not reading the other forums:

www.theyllbegoodyet.com

has gone live!

I haven’t heard the CD yet but already know that they are  .

Roger, you need to take a cheap flight from Charleroi to Shannon and come to the launch at the Crosses of Annagh on saturday  G’wan you know you want to.

'Bout time we heard the news!

For anyone who wants some nice lodgings, try Berry Lodge, on your right just after you take the left turn off the main road toward the Crosses of Annagh.

If only the checkbook looked better, I could think of no nicer way to spend next weekend!

Congrats to both of you!

Perhaps Santa will make a quick revisit… I’m gonna ask.

I actually shipped one to Lapland yesterday :sunglasses:

My friend went to Ireland this past week and is going to pick up a copy for me. Look forward to it!

It’s 3.30 in the morning now. I am just back from the official launch of the CD at the Crosses of Annagh. It was a night that will be written down in the annals of West Clare music as a brilliant one.

It was frosty, the coldest night of the winter so far. We arrived early to set up, as usual people started trickling in around ten-ish. There was a great turn out of friends and neighbours and it was good to see so many familiar faces coming out in support. Around 10.30 Kitty and myself took to the stage and played a few tunes to warm up. Tom Munnelly on 30 seconds notice managed to rustle up a wonderful warm and heartfelt launch-speech after which we played for another 20 minutes. Then we called in the re-inforcements, Brid Donohue joined playing my C flute and Kevin Crawford played his own C flute. This went on for another half hour, we got a great buzz out of it. Then Kitty stepped down for a bit of socialising. I put down the pipes as the three of us on stage were joined by Dympna O Sullivan on concertina. Brid and Kevin got out the D flutes and I took out the whistle. We played for the dancers two flutes, concertina and whistle a d some nimble footwork on the floor. That went on for about 40 minutes until we left the stage to Josephine Marsh, Mick Kinsella and Maurice Coyle. Wonderful music. Fair play to Josie and the gang.
I had a chat with Jackie Daly, who inspired the CD’s title and he said 'the next one will be called ‘there’s no stopping them now’.

Things went on for a few more hours I think, there was singing and more dancing, Tim Dennehy sang ‘My love is like a red red rose’ like only he can sing it and to finish the night Kitty and myself played a few final tunes joined by Jackie Small on accordeon, some time after two with a group of dancers on the floor. Have to say it again, it was a lovely night. Thanks to all our friends and supporters who came out for the night, thanks to all who have so far bought the CD. I had some misgivings and doubts over the past few months but the reactions have just been great and I am glad we pushed on and made it so far. It’s out of my hands now, it’s out there.

Just got home late and found my CD was already here. I have to wait till tomorrow to play it. I was just telling my husband that I reckoned the big celebration was going on tonight so it was fun to hear about it. I’m sure we all hope “there’s no stoppping them now”!

Just to say we’re overwhelmed by the warm. positive reactions we’ve received from those who have actually heard the CD. Many thanks for your support.

I am pleased to announce Phillippe Varlet at www.celticgrooves.com is now stocking the CD in the US. I received word from OssianUSA their first batch sold out before they even received it. They are deciding on how to re-stock.

Recommended purchase option is through our own website, orders ship the next working day arriving within 2-5 days worldwide.

Belated congratulations, Peter. I’m delighted that you finally got a CD out and I’m dying to hear it. (I’ve already heard some rave reviews.)

Sounds like a great launch too. They don’t do launches like that out here unfortunately.

any soundclip?

There are clips on the website.

Slan,
D.

There’s been a lot of chatter about the album (all extremely positive) on the IRTRAD mailing list. The effusive praise, along with the samples on the site, won me over. I ordered a copy from http://www.ossianusa.com/ a couple of days ago.

Walt (still pleased from having scored today seemingly fine seats to an upcoming Great Big Sea concert)

It’s definitely quicker, in most cases it’s cheaper and the people who put in the work will actually reap the full benefits rather than receiving 1/3 of it

I ordered my copy from the site and received not only a kind note from Peter, but in less than a week I received my CD.

If I may, I’d like to make an observation of the recording. After immediately putting this into my iPod, I didn’t get much of a chance to listen really closely until last night when I woke up at 3:00am. Work has been very heavy these days and my mind was not relaxed, so I took the opportunity to grab the gadget and plug my ears in.

Wow. The recording is basic. It is so beautifully basic. I have completely fallen in love with the music and warm flavour of this duo. There are details to this music that will take years for me to weave through and grasp. I was mesmerized by the playing of Kitty and the complexity of syncopation with melody and accidentals. Peter’s solo is as good as it gets (sorry Peter! ) - his Wooff pipes are wonderful to hear - and the triplets are brilliant. At first I was a little distracted by the clicking of the concertina - wondering if that were Kitty’s fingernails or the instrument in function, but I not only got over the sound but was even more intrigued by the “real-ness” of the recording. Simply put, it felt like being in the same room with them.

Similar to the honest quality of Jimmy O’Brien Moran’s Sean Reid’s Favourites I’d love to hear more recordings like this; high quality recordings with the polish coming from the players themselves. I highly recommend this CD to everyone here. They’ll be good yet is already more than good  .

Cheers,

Santa is such a nice guy. Mine’s ordered from the site as well.

Good point, Peter! Folks, please disregard the link above and instead purchase through the album’s Web site. :stuck_out_tongue:

Here’s the link again, just to make sure it’s on every page of this thread:

I’ve ordered mine. Peter, thanks so much for doing this. I’ve been waiting a long time for a chance to hear you and Kitty.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Thanks Peter. I got mine the end of last week. It is a wonderful listen!
