Just wanted everyone to know that between the whistle auction I ran and the excess funds generated by the “Buy a whistle for Dale” event, I will be sending a check for hurricane Katrina relief in the amount of $475 to my wife’s college, Russell Sage, which will match that amount. I really want to thank everyone who bid in the auction, and everyone who donated so generously to the relief effort. This is a terrific bunch of people and I’m proud to be a part of it.

BTW-- the whistle arrived yesterday and is in excellent condition, as advertised by the seller. It even has Dale’s initial engraved already: D :laughing:

I’ll get it out to the engraver later this week.

With this money, the $300 that John S. raised by selling his whistles (matching funds also), the substantial money that Dale raised in his request for funds over on the pub forum, and whistle auctions on other sites, the cyber whistle community–with no official organization–faired pretty well in giving. I know lots of folks gave in many other places.
