In an effort to thin my whistle collection down to the four I play regularly, I’ve decided to offer the rest for sale. I’ve also decided that all proceeds from this sale will be donated to the Red Cross for hurricane relief. (Plus, I’ll be making the donation through a program at my place of work; the company will match the donation dollar-for-dollar.)
The whistles for sale are (left to right):
1. Busman Bird’s-eye Maple high D – $200 – SOLD
Made in 2004, this is a truly beautiful instrument to look at and to play. The maple is unstained, and the fittings are stainless steel. It includes the nice synthetic-fleece pouch made by Paul’s wife. Paul currently charges $250 for these fine instruments.
2. Burke AL-Pro high D (pre-blacktip) – $80 – SOLD
This was my first “high end” whistle, purchased in 2001. It has a lovely, pure tone, but I’ve decided that metal whistles just aren’t my thing. Whistle includes original pouch.
3. Jerry Freeman-Tweaked Generation brass high D – $20 – SOLD
I got this red-cap brass Generation in a trade with Beth (aka Avanutria) a while back. There’s a slight chip at one corner of the blade, but Jerry assured Beth that it didn’t affect the sound. (And I have to agree; it’s a very nice whistle.)
(For more pictures of the Busman, Burke and Generation whistles, look in this thread.)
4. “Moldavian Caval in D” (as labeled when purchased) – $40
I purchased this whistle from the Dusty Strings shop in Seattle. While it’s not truly a caval, it does have a similar look. (For more details, including better pictures, look in this thread.)
5. Clarke Sweetone high D – free with purchase of Moldavian Caval
Standard, off-the-shelf, untweaked Sweetone.
All prices are in US dollars, and include insured shipping within the continental US. (Shipping to other locations may cost extra.) I can take money orders or personal checks (whistles will be shipped after check clears). Unfortunately, I am not set up to accept Paypal.
Please respond via private message (pm), not in this thread.
Thank you,
John
