FS: Burke, Hoover and Weston whistles -- ALL SOLD

Hi,
I’ve decided to sell a few whistles in my collection in order to fund purchases of other whistles. (Cannibalistic WhOA?) These are all good whistles, they’re just not right for me.

All prices include shipping within the continental US. For other locations, there may be an additional shipping charge.

If interested, please do not reply to this thread; contact me by PM.

Burke AL-Pro Viper low D (list price $210 US + shipping) → $200 US – SOLD
Maker’s web site: http://www.burkewhistles.com/
This is an awesome whistle, and I’ll probably regret selling it, but I’m just not getting into playing the low whistle as much as I thought I would. The Burke Viper has an extra joint above the bottom hole, letting you adjust it for a more comfortable grip. Engraved on the back of the head-piece: “Low D Pro Viper” and “MB 03/2004”.

Hoover traditional bore brass high D (list price $55 US) → $40 US – SOLD
Maker’s web site: http://home.bresnan.net/~mackhoover/index.htm
I got this fine little whistle in trade from Avanutria (aka Beth). It’s very quiet, and has a green Corian fipple plug. The head-piece has “Mack 746” and “D” engraved on it. The tuning-sleeve has the following text engraved on it: “FOR BETH 5/29/02”. (Beth picked this one out in Mack’s shop, and he personalized it for her.) So, if you want a Hoover whistle and like the idea of knowing it’s provenance, this one’s for you.

Weston yew high D with slip-case (list price 50 UK pounds) → $75 US – SOLD
Maker’s web site: http://westonwhistles.co.uk/
I purchased this beautiful wooden whistle for $75 US, shipping included, using a discount I won in IDAwHOa’s renaming contest. (At that time, Simon’s list price was 75 UK pounds.) I just got it a couple of months ago, and haven’t played it much at all, so it’s in “like new” condition. It’s non-tunable, but nicely in-tune. Engraved on the bottom of the whistle is “WW 580”.

Serpent SunSinger copper & brass Bb (list price $110 US + shipping) → see text below for pricing – SOLD
Maker’s web site: http://www.serpentmusic.com/
I won this tunable whistle in the big raffle which Jessie organized a while back. It’s a breathy whistle with a lot of chiff. Engraved on the bottom (in very nice script): “SunSinger #35 (BW)”, “www.serpentmusic.com” and “Bb”. Since I won this in a benefit raffle, I’m not really comfortable making a profit from it. So, the first person who buys one of the other three whistles listed here and says they want the Bb, gets it for $10 US (to cover shipping; it’s a heavy whistle).

Here’s a photo of the whistles. Top to bottom: Hoover, Weston, Serpent, Burke.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers,
John

Will you be buying more Busman’s John

Vipers deserve good homes…

Philo

Who told?!

Yes, my whistle wish-list includes another Busman, as well as a Greenwood. But, I have to gather the funds first, hence the sale.

Yes, they do. It really is a wonderful whistle. I’ve just decided not to invest the time necessary to be able to play low whistle with any skill, so it’s time to find this Viper a new home.

Cheers,
John

I’d just like to mention that I originally sold the Hoover in order to raise money for school, and had Mack’s permission to do so. It’s a wonderful whistle, very quiet and pure.

The Burke low D Viper and the Serpent SunSinger Bb have been claimed. The other two whistles are still available.

Thanks,
John

PS: Beth – Thanks for the input.

Bump.

The Hoover and Weston whistles are still available. If there’s no interest in them by the end of another week, I’ll pull them off the market.

Thanks again for looking.

Cheers,
John

The Hoover whistle is SOLD. The Weston whistle is still available.

Thanks,
John

All offered whistles have SOLD. Thanks for playing!

Cheers,
John
