Just loved that,thanks

Just a stunning listen for me. And, a terrific reminder that I don’t need all these whistles. I didn’t care what whistle he was playing - just keep playing. Thanks much for posting the link.

Ron

Thanks guys

The first one is a tune I composed.
2nd comes from one of the Vallely boys

Boyd

This one is called “The Three Pound Note”

Both of those are very nice. They’ll be going into my iPod.

Yes, it’s not about the whistle. It’s about the music. But I can’t help wondering if the battered nature of your whistle helps a little, too. I’ve heard a few dents sometimes improves things. But honestly, the practice is what did it.

Hi

Anyone else got any tunes they wrote themselves? MP3 or video would be great, dots OK, I don’t understand much of the AB whatever stuff.

Here’s mine:

I like your polka…sounds almost like a Medieval dance, which happens to be a kind of music I enjoy very much!

Here are a couple of mine:

Great stuff!

How about we get a web page somewhere with only C&F member’s original tunes? Dale, are you there?

Then some time in the future there could be a session with only C&F original tunes! That would be kewl!

I like the way this thread has turned into something about original compositions…so I’ve taken the liberty of changing the title a bit.

Thanks for posting your tunes guys…very good

More please!!!

Boyd

Just listened to Boyd’s clip at the top of the thread. Great stuff! Love it.

I haven’t time just now to go through the thread, but will definitely be coming back to do so - and stick some of my own on (there’s one on flute in my signature, The Sullane Jig).

Great idea, Magicsailor, and I’m glad Boyd’s taken you up on it. I second the request to the Mods for a sticky thread. I guess the clips thread on the Flute Forum already gets a fair bit of this kind of thing, though not specifically self-composed stuff. I’m not sure there’s a real need for a separate compositions thread there: similarly, I’d been wondering why there isn’t already a comparable clips sticky here as well as the Youtube one. Perhaps a thread entitled “Clips and Compositions” would do the trick? Let us know, Mods.

There’s a category at Tin Whistle Tunes for original pieces, you can post them there.

Good stuff guys!

Thanks,

I like it!

Thanks for sharing…

Very nice James! I especially like “The Pewter Plug”. Best, Cyril.

Yes, we know

…but we want to post them here

Here’s one that’s not original

just me, a Generation C and 2 reels

Boyd

Here’s links to MP3s of a few of my tunes: “Chan’s Reel”, “The Pink Ribbon Reel”, and “The Platinum Ring”. MP3s and dots for these and all the other tunes I’ve written can be found at the link in my .sig below.

PS Wow, it’s frustrating listening to old recordings of yourself! I keep on hearing things I’d do differently today, or that I just didn’t play very well back then. Sigh.

Hi

Great stuff. Keep em coming!
Edited:
Just had a bit more time now later in the evening. Played through and downloaded ALL your dots. GREAT STUFF. (I like to play a tune once or twice before I hear anyone else play it.) Also downloaded the MP3’s and am listening to your recordings now.

A bit confusing that all the images have almost the same name. Will have to go through and rename them on my HD to be able to find the tunes I want.

Thank you for your kind words. It hadn’t occurred to me that anyone would want to download the PNG files by themselves. If it’s not too late, I have modified the Perl script that generates the web page so that it uses filenames based on the tune names for both the HTML sub-pages and the PNG files. In addition, I hope to have PDF versions of the tunes up later today as well.

Edited to add: The PDFs are up now, available via the “PDF” link on each tune’s individual web page.

I really like the Platinum Ring
