Original tunes

Does anyone have any original traditional Irish tunes that you’ve written that you would like to share with the board?

I’m not fishing for material for a specific project. I just thought it would be fun to see what people are coming up with.

Thanks,
John

Well, I’m not eager to raise the whole “original traditional” debate, but here are some tunes I’ve written that are intended to be played in a traditional Irish style, at any rate:

The Platinum Ring (still haven’t gotten around to putting the fifth part on-line)
The Pink Ribbon Reel
Slow Road to East China

I fear some of the MP3s are pretty shaky – the problem is that I’m usually recording them as soon as I can play them through without mistakes, rather than after months and months of playing the tune in. I really should go back and make new ones at some point.

The full list of my tunes is in my sig after every post I make here…

I have a nice little whistle tune called ‘The Moth in the Lantern.’ You can find it on the session.org.

Here’ a tune that a fiddler player friend of mine wrote. The transcription isn’t exact and you can snazz it up a bit with cut, rolls, and the usual:

Here are a couple of tunes I composed. The Humors of Teddy used to be posted on a web site played by a whistler and myself. The web site is still there but the links to the tunes don’t seem to be available.

Okay, here’s the abc for Moth in the Lantern! Sorry to send you all on a research mission… I think this is the setting I play.

Yes that is a nice one also. Does he have “Edinburgh Rock” on the board also? I did a search but didn’t see it.
