One of my favourite novelists.
The Collector and The French Lieutenants Woman were both great books but The Magus…I’ve read that a dozen times over the years and it has never failed to leave me breathless.

I never read The Magus but see now that I should–readers who added comments to that BBC report seem to agree that The Magus holds a special place in their hearts. Thanks, dubh.

Well, that’s sad news. I liked The French Lieutenant’s Woman very much. It is a strange feeling when one of our great writers is gone forever.
