Joannie Madden & Aoife Clancy at Wind On The Bay

Hi Everybody,

We’re still working on the exact scheduling for classes and concerts for Wind On The Bay, but I just wanted to let everyone know that we’ve added two instructors to the WOTB mix.

The 5th Annual Wind On The Bay Irish Flute Festival ( Sept. 29 - Oct. 1, 2006 | http://www.windonthebay.com ) will feature Joannie Madden of Cherish The Ladies and Aoife Clancy in addition to Skip Healy and John Skelton as part of the teaching and performing staff. You can find out more about Aoife at Aoifeclancy.com and more about Joannie at Cherishtheladies.com.

I’m really excited that Wind On The Bay will host these two incredibly talented women in both concert and classroom settings. The tunes and song will be massive and I think we’re going to have some powerhouse classes for this year’s attendees. And, let’s face it, between myself, John, Joannie and Aoife, we’re not exacly a shy bunch. I predict lots of laughter and music at the sessions.

Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know about these additions to the teaching staff. Wind On The Bay will take place in East Greenwich, RI, and is open for pre-registration right now. As in past years, we limit attendance to 30 students. So, make your reservation now. You won’t regret it.

All the best,
Skip Healy

I’m there - anyone else going?

Hi -

I’m new to this forum, and I am also new to Wind on the Bay - I have registered for it, and am looking forward to it! I have played a Boehm flute (Pearl brand) for a long time, and have been playing Celtic music, along with contra dance and American folk, for the past several years. I also play some whistle (I have a Sweetheart D whistle and one of Ralph’s low G flutes), and want to get a decent Irish flute as well. My problem has been finding an Irish flute that I can play, as I have small hands. The Desi Seery I recently purchased had to be returned - it’s a long story, which I will share another time…

In any case, looking forward to meeting folks before and at WOTB.

Julie
