Jethro Tull sheet music

My 10 year-old daughter has seriously taken up the flute and has fallen in love and taken to endlessly playing Jethro Tull’s version of Bouree on her cd player. Does anyone have the sheet music for it in the form of a pdf, etc? I, and, she, would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi Dr.Ray,
well seeing as no one else has replied, I’m inclined to ask the obvious question!! If your daughter can play the tune by ear and follow it well enough, why do you need sheet music  ?
She can probably follow it a lot more closely by ear - if you stick notes in front of her, they’ll just get in the way and trip up her rhythm. If a passage is too fast to follow accurately, then you need a wee piece of software called a ‘slow downer’ which will (within reason) slow down any CD or .mp3 track whilst retaining pitch. Useful for isolating part of a tune to learn it - but go back to ‘normal’ tempo as soon as possible.
I too have a daughter near that age and she picks up music beautifully by ear - only trouble is, she’s growing away from trad. music: not what her friends are into.

Ahhhh! I really should have read your note more carefully!! She plays the flute but listens to Jethro Tull on the CD… See if she can pick out a few phrases on the flute. Ditto on tin whistle in same key might be easier. Then or also try a few easier tunes that she knows to sing along to and have a go at these by ear and see how they work out - try starting on different notes on the whistle. Trust this may help!!

now, how would you daughter come be listening to jethro tull? did the apple fall not far from the tree? i bet her grandparents are estatic that they’ll get to relive that phase of life over again. i was just mailed (by surprise) an anthology of led zepplin by my brother. he’s a priest and for some reason, his new parish had this in with the sheet music. i bet that woke up some folks sunday morning.

Note: While this is not Ian’s mis-rememberered version it should help a bit.

I recall long long ago how everyone under 20 yrs old woke up and did a quick head turn to see who was playing the organ the Sunday morning a very very slow version of “Stairway to Heaven” was done at my parents’ church.

that didn’t happen to be a church near pittsburgh pa?

Na, near Chicago.

Ya gotta wonder how many bored teenage church organists are out there trying to see how much they can get away with, don’t ya.

reminds me of the Simpson’s episode when Bart distributed the hymn “In the Garden of Eden” by I Ron Butterfly (In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida) and the organist was worn out after her 10 minute organ solo.

i’m a church musician and some of those old standard songs just call out to me wanting a county rhythm. no one has complained yet.

And the scene in “The Commitments” where the church organist is playing the intro to “Whiter Shade of Pale.”

Back to the Bouree…
It can be found in “Flute Solos Created by Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull” and arranged by Jeff Rona. The publisher is Warner Bros. P1073FLX or ISBN: 0-89898-893-4
I got the book about 10-12 years ago and am not sure if it is still in print. If you can get a copy, it is a nice collection.
