I just received a C whistle from Jean Pierre LeMeur. I thought I’d let everyone know what a GREAT whistle I think it is. It is easy to play, but not too easy - one can give it a little push and get to the next octave without fear of jumping up accidentally. The tone is clear, pure AND sweet at the same time, with just a slight amount of breathiness. I love that. Its not SUPER loud, but it is not quiet, either. For me, it is PERFECT! Judith
Glad you like it…the LeMeur whistle is one on my list of “future haves”. I watched a review of one by Tony Hinnigan and it sounded great…plus, he was extremely impressed by it…said he “has to have one”

Hi Judith,
I got mine a few months ago (a high D) and found it really difficult to get used to it.
Maybe not a beginner whistle ; I started whistle less than a year ago and used almost nothing but easy blowers so far.
At first, the whistle would clog after less than a minute playing. I really had trouble warming it up (never had troubles with a lended Copeland, or my Alba or MK though!).
Now, in addition to giving it much more pressure, and high temperatures being back, I find it easier but still getting squeaks and clogs occasionally…
But once warmed up, it is so nice to hear, very comfortable (my fingers find their way to the holes right away), and I find the sound quit clear. It is also very responsive. A nice whistle to have indeed.
Enjoy.
Pascal.
Yes, I have noticed some rapid clogging. Maybe this is why I see some people placing the whistle toward the side of the mouth, opening their lips just enough to get enough sound. I once had a Kerry Songbird that was similar in that way. That’s what I’m trying. If anyone else has suggestions, I’d welcome them & perhaps Pascal would, too. Judith
Actually I was recently in touch with a french fellow “met” on this board.
He seemed to have the same problem with clogging for his low D.
He told me he solved the problem by washing the whistle with soapy water and let it dry.
Seems that it worked fine for him… but not for me! Maybe my whistle would appreciate a second bath ![]()
I’am afraid that beside a sharp WHOA, I am also suffering from animism! ![]()
