A pic of Mr. Talty playing with Brid O’Donohue’s son Seán.

Here is a video of the Laictin Naoifa playing in Kilrush in 1963, JC playing the flute
Nice video Peter, isn’t that Michael Falsy there on the pipes?
Yes, Junior Crehan, Paddy Galvin, Michael Downes, Jimmy Ward, JC and Michael Falsey. Don’t know the name of the younger fiddleplayer and not sure of the whistleplayer, it has been suggested it’s a young Ita Crehan
I’m sorry to hear that. Thank you for letting us know, Peter, and prayers to his family and friends.
the young fiddler is seamus connolly
Maids of Mt. Kisco once through, followed by George White’s Fancy, played at rocket speed!
Both are in L.E. McCullough’s “120 Favorite Irish Session Tunes.” Anyone else find that book essential? It’s been my source for the basic repertoire, every last tune in it. Most seem to be from the '60’s ceilidh band cannon. Any other books out there anyone cares to recommend for great flute tunes commonly played at sessions?
Not the place to discuss McCullough book if you don’t mind.
so someone said in the comments to the video on youtube. The same man also saw Seamus Ennis in it. I have my doubts.
i’ve no doubt that is a young seamus connolly, looks a little older now, but t’is himeslf. (orig. from kilrush).
Isn’t he from Killaloe ?

I had hoped to confirm this yesterday at the funeral but I didn’t get to talk to Michael Falsey much (we played at the grave side though) but looking at photgraphs again today I am quite sure it’s Christy Dixon who was actually a member of the band.
