Just received the news of the death of JC Talty, a magnificent fluteplayer, whistler and the 1961 all Ireland piper he was close to Willie Clancy and many others of the great of his generation like Paddy Canny , Peadar O Loughlin and others.
A lovely man, he often kept me talking in the street, full of stories of Leo Rowsome, Semus Ennis, Willie and the other pipers he was close to. It was as a fluteplayer he was best known, through his playing with the Laictin Naoifa and his 25 years with the Tulla.
