Hello there surly uilleann pipers.
I hope you are all well.
Shameless I know but I thought I’d post here and let you know of my new website and an album I am about to release.

I’ve launched http://www.jarlathhenderson.co.uk

To be fair, at the moment, it’s light on pipe related things, but that will change with time.

I launched it as I’m releasing an album called ‘Hearts Broken, Heads Turned’.

It’s not a tune album, but it does feature uilleann pipes.

You can also get some other albums I’ve released on the site, or preorder the new one.

You can also find out a wee bit more about it on:

http://jarlathhenderson.bandcamp.com/releases

Anyway, I just thought I’d stop by and post in here, where some of the international network of music lovers congregate.
I hope you are all well and not too surly, and I’ll be doing more melodic based things in the near future!

Cheers,

Jar

A long way from this :

Nice pic, Peter. That’s Swiss piper Marcus on the left? Anyone heard back from him recently?

Marcus, yes. Haven’t seen him for ages.

Hey Jarlath ,do you give out medical advice?

RORY

First track on Jar’s new album - love it… https://youtu.be/xWtibo4Mccs

It’s a big part of my job in the hospital man, yeah.

Jarlath

Nice photo there Peter. It looks like a session in Cleary’s? We last saw Marcus in Tubbercurry around 2002. I believe Marcus is a school teacher and the timing of the Swiss school holidays made it hard for him to get to Willie Week and Tubbercurry

It’s the kitchen of the old Malone’s. Jarlath was very young then.

I think I remember Marcus saying he was a toolmaker at the time but that may have changed.

Great to see those pictures again Peter!
That was my first time in Milltown. Id received a scholarship from NPU to go and learn. I felt like Id gone to heaven! Travelling round with Marcus and Peter and many others and seeing so many gorgeous sets of pipes, such as Peters Wooff set, many old sets… Travelling from pub to pub playing tunes and trying to get with young ladies!! I must have been 13 or 14. Have you got them in a folder at all Peter? If so would it be possible to get a copy to look through? I may stick some up on my website with, with your permission and accreditation?

Great to touch base again. I was down for half a week this year. Great to get back.

Jarlath

You’re a very luckly man Jarlath, a very fulfilling job saving peoples lives and a professional piper. You must also be an expert in time management .

RORY

I continue to wonder if Gumby has any photos of Turlough O’Carolan squirreled away in his files…

Best wishes.

Steve

That’s nice of you to say Rory! It’s not without its downsides- time management being one of them! But I wouldn’t have it any other way at this stage. I’d go mad if I didn’t do both. Or maybe I’m mad for doing both… Not sure now come to mention it! Oh well!!

I have started scanning my negatives during the winter. The film with those came up a few weeks ago. I’ll format them for you over the next couple of days and send a link where you can download them.
