Hairball season is here. Don’t forget to brush or comb your moggies! Make a point of it. Your little house predator will thank you, and you’ll thank yourself.
This public service announcement is brought to you by the Cat Maintenance Board.
There’s that. My beastie gets combed while she sits in my lap just because it’s a grooming thing and she likes that, and she always wants to catch the comb and chew on its teeth when she’s decided I’m done. Lotta fur shows up in that comb…
Why do they always pick rugs and documents instead of bare floor for their…umm…deposits?
I thought this was going to be about tornado season!
Yes, my kitties are starting to shed a bit. Just noticed Lilly was a couple of days ago. Neither one of them sheds anything like our last kitty Hannah did though. It’s really sort of odd. Her fur didn’t seem particularly different. I should start combing them though—good idea.
Off topic, but here’s a movie of someone getting a cat used to having its teeth brushed, something I have made no headway on at all. I guess each step could take weeks or months. Not quite as quick as the video! http://www.mvol.co.uk/video/cat/catdental.avi
I have to two cats to contend with and four parrots…and let me tell you that shedding does NOT hold a candle to a good, honest spring molt.
This is after a modest hour of spring preening – just the macaw
Okay, its not the stuff that you can step in while you’re going down the stairs like cats leave. But we do run through vacuum cleaners on a regular basis!
Well, what on earth do you do with that thing? Do you run them through it or what? The shape seems so odd. I really cannot imagine. Are you sure it is not some sort of cooking utensil?
Oh dear. I’m sure my cats would be very entertained!
I got one of these barber combs (reminds me of a barber comb):
The fur stays in the comb’s teeth! I have to use my fingers to remove it. I’m not sure if the cat likes the way I dab the fur bunch at her nose when I’m done, though.
FWIW, when I’m using the comb (fine-toothed end, natch), I draw it thru the fur with the body of the comb almost lying flat to the body of the cat. BIG hanks o’ loose fur get trapped by it on a good day. She can’t stand it when I try to comb her face; all bets are off and it’s kill-the-comb playtime then.
