If you like Godiva truffles

Then these will blow you away

I drove 35 miles on lunch today just to get some to take home

I heartily recommend the Mayan, and the Pure Gold. The Clear Creek pear brandy truffle is pretty darn good too.

Woo Hoo, Wanderer’s buying! Just send up the 40 piece collection. I hate to choose.

Are they actually that good?

The only place my wife and I liked more than Godiva was the
Chocolate Swan in Las Vegas (in Mandaly Place between Mandalay
Bay and the Luxor). That stuff was in-freakin-credible. And they made
the chocolate right there in the store, everyday.

supposedly, they make these daily,too.

And they’re that good. I gave one to my boss (one of the Pure Gold), and she agreed that they blew godiva out of the water…

Score. I’ll get some for my wife’s BDay.

BTW, does “Meet the Truffles” sound like a Ben Stiller movie to anyone else?

I shudder to think what they would put in truffles in a Ben Stiller movie. :astonished:

You can buy a two-pack before then for yourself and eat them secretly in the name of “research”

Oh no, at a store near me.

Although I really liked a local chocolate shop that double-dipped their truffles in contrasting chocolate shells. 1 layer milk, another dark or white. Then some idiot chain took them over and dropped those for stupid stuff.

I recently did a comparison between Godiva dark chocolate, a Dove Dark, Nestle’s chocolate chips and Hersheys semi-sweet baking chocolate.

The Godiva had a less slippery texture then the Dove but didn’t taste that much different. The Dove was a tad sweeter.

Godiva and the chocolate chips were nearly identical in taste.

The winner was the baking chocolate. Which wasn’t much different then the chips but just a little more bitter.

Haven’t compared truffles yet.

I never ate one.

Good grief, did you cleanse your pallet beforehand?
I can tell the difference between Ghirardelli and Nestle chips in a blind
test, and I definately can taste a difference between Godiva and Nestle!
Incidentally, the bestest chocolate I ever had was some candies my
father brought back from Finland.

Some people don’t have as sensitive taste as others. I can’t tell the difference between two kinds of coffee, usually, for instance, while my mother can.

Get on a plane and go to Brussels… now.

The pictures on the site look really cool. I just wonder how they would taste. I can tell the differences on pretty much any thing Godiva and Nestle’s I could not imagine them being even remotly similar.

Oy, it’s cheaper to get them in the fall: they don’t have to use “Summer Shipping”, which is an extra $7!
Luckily, the birthday in question is in Nov.

I am nearly ashamed to admit that the truffles never made it home…
So i just didn’t tell my wife I’d bought any

They are that good, wow.

How do they compare to like, Lindt truffles? I’m afraid that’s about the only kind I’m familier with. I like them though.

Of course, with minty fresh Listerine. Actually due to limited amounts of the varieties I had to do them one at a time. So it wasn’t a very scientific comparison. But I do know that for $2.75 I can get a whole bag of chocolate chips instead of a 1.3 oz Godiva bar. Maybe my taste is influenced by $$$$$.

And thanks Cran for coming to my support.

For $200, I can get a decent bottle of Dom Perignon, whereas I can get about 16 boxes of “wine in the box” at Walmart for the same price which is about the equivalent volume as 64 bottles of Dom.

Somehow, I’m not getting the urge to start drinking wine-in-the-box on special occasions

On the other hand, different people do have different tastes, and just because something costs more doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to taste better to you (the same can be said for whistles, incidentally)
