I have been searching around the web for many months searching for an affordable set of Uilleann pipes
, I have found affordability in two makers, Alan Logan and Jim Daily, both from Scotland
. Is there anyone who has a set of pipes made by either of them that can give me information on the quality and playability? I would appreciate the help.

PS Welcome to the forum
HiāI know nothing about pipes but, although you may have seen this already, at this thread:

they are talking about Jim Daily. You might send a P(rivate)M(essage) to the people who sound as though they are familiar with his pipes and get their opinions. Or ask your question again there.

(Alan Loganās site) No prices listed.

(Jim Dailyās site)
His site lists a "rationalisedā āfull setā of pipes for 2.500 Sterling ($4,792 US$ as of today). (See his site to what he means by ārationalised full setā).
A practice set is listed at 660 Sterling. Thatās $1,265 US$ as of today.
Now, - for the sake of comparison only - I am not necessarily recommending these particular makers, and in fact, I will only mention his name and will if you send a PM and ask:
Famous Maker A:
Practice set: $1,260
Full set: $4,500
Hereās another pricing by a āfamous makerā (who is in the USA):
If price is your current measuring stick, then you could do well by contacting this particular (and well-known) American maker.
Famous Maker B:
Practice set: $1,400
Full set: $6,500 (itās instrumental (no pun intended) here to compare a true āfull setā with the previously described ārationalised full setā).
Given the weakness in the US dollar of late, I think the choice is clear. If youāre interested in hearing who the two āfamous makersā are, drop a line to me via PM and Iāll be happy to provide their web site addyās.
Uillieann pipes??
I donāt know either maker but would suggest you start by choosing a maker within a reasonable distance of where you live.
I also suggest that you try not to let budget be the priority. If the difference between a cheap set and a mid-range set is just a few hundred, I suggest you wait a few months and save up the extra money. If you buy a set based entirely on price, you might have trouble selling it later. Much depends on the reputation of the pipemaker (Iām not suggesting that Logan and Daily have anything other than a good reputation). But taking an extreme example, a Made-in-Pakistan practice set will cost you approx. US$300 while a Seth Gallagher practice set will cost you US$1,400. But when you want to upgrade to a half set, youāre Gallagher set will still be worth US$1,400 (if not more) while the Pakistani set will have minimal resale value - and itāll be difficult to sell. This IS an extreme example, but I think it highlights an important consideration. Your pipes are a longterm investment.
David Daye is probably the most affordable
I noticed that as well. Itās Mr. Loganās spelling, not mine.
My first chanter was an Alan Logan chanter. It came in the post with a regulator reed in the Chanter. Needless to say they didnāt work.
