How to pronounce "bridle"?

After using it for many years it came to my mind recently, that I don´t know at all how to pronounce it properly. Do you say [braidl] or [bridl]?

[braidl] … In German it would be written Breidl.

Finbar Furey calls it the “belt”…

…and pointing to the bridle he asked, “and what do you call that, little girl?”

“oh, it’s the belt, or the bridle, or whatever you please, sir.”

“noooo, that’s called the devil’s collar.”

:smiling_imp:

… and then the congolorum (sp?) came and burned his house down. See where calling it the wrong thing will get you?

I always heard it as “hot cock-a-lorum”, myself. Always with the hot, too, I think. Cold fire was much in vogue, I suppose!

 and see where crappy speakers got me?! thanks, n.
