hilarious! must get the dvd. ![]()
By the same guys who did Sean of the Dead. It was pretty funny, but not as inventive as Sean.
Another very black comedy I saw recently starring Simon Pegg was Big Nothing. There were some screamingly funny lines in this one.

I loved Sean of the Dead so Hot Fuzz is definitely in my queue.
My wife and I saw Stardust last night and loved it. I was worried from the trailer that it wouldn’t work, but it was great. I also didn’t mind the changes they made from the book to movie. That’s unusual, normally they grate at me.
Thx for the input on Stardust. I was kinda leery about that one, too. Good to know it works out, but I’ll wait for the DVD.

I’m trying to figure out why something like this, with its absolutely horrendously ‘realistic’ visualisations of the murderous violence doesn’t make me mad and sick, while similar visuals in a ‘serious’ movie grate my tolerances… I think it’s a combination of the acknowledgement by the characters in the move that it is utterly horrible, and then of course, the comedy underlayment.
Tis weird.
Maybe it’s because it’s because it’s satirising (well half satire, half tribute) the action genre so the violence is over the top on a ridiculous scale. The whole thing is done with tongue in cheek so you don’t take the gore seriously.
I loved Hot Fuzz and preferred it to Sean Of The Dead (get more of the references as I love action films).
Hot Fuzz is an an instant classic in my books as is Shaun of the Dead.
That team is brilliant: Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright and Nick Frost. Just as good as the movies is their sitcom Spaced from the late '90s. I think it’s only available on Region 1 DVD but you can find episodes on the internet.
Spaced is utter genius. A truly fantastic series. There’s a lot of nods to it in their films as well.
Was there a Jessica Stevenson cameo in Hot Fuzz? If there was, I missed it. None is credited on IMDb. I thought her cameo in Shaun of the Dead was inspired.
I thought Hot Fuzz was hysterical. It wasn’t as good as Shawn of the Dead, though, partly because of the Shawn of the Dead DVD’s amazing extras with the stories of what Shawn and his cohorts were doing when they were fighting zombies off camera.
Thanks for the series info! I’ll have to look for that!
Sometimes one just has to laugh so hard - they say one lives longer.
Hot Fuzz was just the tonic
Brittish comedy - thank goodness - for those inventive folks!

I saw Hot Fuzz in the theater on opening weekend.
I laughed mesself into a new pair of trousers, then went back and saw it again. ![]()
This was a great movie!! I love those two guys together…
It helps if you enjoy Brit humor…my wife just rolls her eyes while I’m doubling over in pain..
Question. This looks like a good movie and people have had nice things to say about it. I saw this was available on DVD the other day, is it worth purchasing or is it more a movie that one would want to rent? There are really good movies out there that, as good as they are, they are not the kind of movies you would want to watch more than once (or maybe twice). How does Hot Fuzz stack up? Does the comedy hold up to repeated viewings? I’ve seen Shaun of the Dead and, although I enjoyed it, I didn’t have a sudden desire to go buy the DVD. Any thoughts?
If you have any doubts, rent it, thenyou’ll know for sure. Cheap way to find out. … of course, you could go ahead and buy it, and if you don’t want to keep it, just send it along to me.
Hey.. go for a two-fer, and get Shaun as well. I’ll pay the postage. ![]()
