We went to see “Elizabethtown” tonight. Despite the critics’ dislike of it, we found it to be hilariously funny in all the right places, and touching in the right places as well. Orlando Bloom does a remarkably good American accent, by the way…best I’ve heard from a British actor! While the final bit required some fairly strenous suspension of disbelief (there’s no way that girl could have pulled that trip together overnight like that!), it worked out well, I think. And the sound track was great!
I’m glad to hear that! After leaving the theater last night, none of us could figure out why the critics we’d read prior to seeing the film seemed to dislike it…we certainly enjoyed it, and the other people in the rather crowded theater seemed to like it as well (they were definitely getting into the funny bits, anyway).
Almost impossible to see a quality film here in Scunny.
There was a family run cinema here a few years ago that made the effort but the arrival of a new multiplex put them out of business.
The old place had four screens and it was there that I saw Seven and the Usual Suspects,both on consecutive friday nights and both times I was the only person in the cinema!The neighbouring screens were chock a block for the latest Bruce Willis/Horror/chic flic…
The new multiplex only runs kiddie stuff and more blockbuster/special effect extravaganzas and avoids anything interesting or “Arty”.
