Hornpipe?

Cillian Vallely’s “Timber” book has a hornpipe just called “Hornpipe”. Surely it has another name.

Here’s the first bit. Does anyone know what it’s called?

Oh, and by the way, Timber wasn’t written by Cillian Vallely. It was written by Fintan Vallely.

Quite right. Duh.

Thanks for the tune ID.

You’re welcome. IIRC at one time your question used to be quite a common one. But of course, it’s a long time since the publication of the book.

Issued in a new edition in 2013, with 3x the material (and 3 CDs), and a new title: A Complete Guide to Learning the Irish Flute

I knew that! I’d completely forgotten, though, so thank you for reminding me.

Interestingly enough, I have a 2-CD edition, also published in 2013. Would anyone happen to know what the difference is?

It might include a re-issue of a compilation of tracks from Fintan’s 2 early albums.

Thanks! I suspected as much, since the tutor itself seems to be complete, what with all the tracks and examples.
