So I’ve bothered Chiffle and Fipple for tune ID’s twice in the past few days or so, and I’ve got a whole load more I need putting a name to. Makes sense to get the rest done in one economy-sized thread.
Think you know your folk music? We’ll see about that!
Pass your answers to the table on your right when you’re done and no cheating!
As it happens, this is the ITM group of which I am a part. The recordings are from a practice session that took place waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in February of last year, shortly after I joined the band. That’s why the guitar work is so shoddy and you can hear Eddie shouting the chords to me on some of the tunes.
Cheers m8. (Although I can’t take much credit for the better playing in the clips). If you’re ever in the West Devon/East Cornwall neck of the woods, give us a shout.
Can I ask you all to listen to a_minor_tunes_2.mp3 again please? I didn’t know this when I posted it before, but there’s actually two tunes going on there. In the clip you can hear the A part of the second tune, which kicks in after the B part of Jenny Nettles (you can hear me losing the thread on the guitar too).
The chap playing the fiddle says it’s called something like Mull in Dew, or somesuch, but he’s not sure.
Next one: please take a moment to fire up your ITM standard issue copy of Planxty’s Well Below the Valley. What is the reel (it’s in common time at least) that’s used as the instrumental follow-on after the song Bean Phaidin, which is track 8 on the album. I just gotta know.
Bringing this thread back from the dead with a new tune to ID. I only know the A part, vaguely remembered from a recording I no longer have. The audio is me playing one of this gentleman’s excellent flutes.
