Just crowing a little over my newly acquired Hoover whitecap. It fits nicely on both my Mellow D and Feadog C. What a difference in the sound! Also, both take a lot less breath all over, but especially in the upper octave. Thank you, Mack!

I’ve been thinking about getting a Blacktop to put on my Mellow Dog (and Feadóg C body). Did you have to send him the bodies, or just tell him what you were trying to fit?

I have an additionnal question : is there a difference between whitecap and blackcap (except the color :smiley: ) ?

I’ve wondered the same thing. Is one quieter than the other?

The whitecap is made of pvc or cpvc and the blacktop is made of Delrin. The latter tends to clog less. Some think the blacktop is just a tad richer or darker in tone. Mack can make either to your specification.

I told him I thought one would fit both, but he didn’t have a Feadog C, so he made one to fit his Mellow D, sent it to me, and if it hadn’t worked on the Feadog, I would have sent it back to him with the Feadog to be retrofitted to it. Turns out it fits both very well. I think if I have him do another, like my Clare, I’ll probably send him the whistle. He’s great to work with and willing to accomodate your needs. A real pleasure!

Thanks for the info. I have a Whitecap, so I’ve ordered from Mack before - great whistle and a nice transaction. I didn’t send him the whistle either, just told him what I wanted it to fit.

As for the difference between the Whitecap and Blacktop, the Whitecap has a brass insert, which I don’t believe the Blacktop has.
