Fate, serendipity - Grey Larsen’s The Essential Guide to Irish Flute and Tin Whistle just arrived right on the heels of my new Elfsong C. The whistle is beautiful (black painted copper, copper external slide ring, brass head with black delrin fipple) and I’ll be airing it out over the next few days. Grey’s book is the most promising I’ve seen. It’s awesome in scope and detail, yet seems so far very logically presented in a way that a non music theory person like myself can really cotton to. I’ve only quickly looked over the entire book, but have gotten easily immersed in the first chapter already. I haven’t yet played the CDs, but it looks like a simple key to where everything is. At first glance, looks like there’s a lot here and well-presented. Gotta go for obvious reasons…
Best to all and special thanks to Sandy Jasper and Grey Larsen. What could be better on a rainy day? Don’t answer that…
