Go buy the new Grey Larsen book right now!

I finally bought a copy of the new Grey Larsen book “The Essential Guide to Irish Flute and Tin Whistle” while visiting Dusty Strings in Seattle during a business trip last week.

If there is anyone on this forum who doesn’t have a copy of this book, you need to buy a copy immediately, turn off the computer, lock yourself in your practice room for a month/year/rest-of-your-life and don’t come out until you’ve gone through the entire book.

Its an absolutely phenomenal book, and both as a player and teacher will be a great reference.

Here’s a link to Grey’s site where you can find the book:

(never met a condensed double cut short roll I didn’t like…)

Michael, what flutes do they currently have available at Dusty Strings?

Last summer when I was there, they were hosting a class of beginning ukelele (I think I misspelled that!) players ~ there were about 30 of them ~ fun!

I got this book last thursday and fully agree.
This is going to keep you busy for a LONG time…lots of great advice!
just one comment: not suitable for when you cannot yet read sheetmusic, you should first get something else for that as in larsens book is supposed you can read it already and not starting out real easy.
but great for learning how to play the flute, how to hold it, how to breathe…advice really works for me.

They had a couple of Casey Burns flutes, one of the new Copeland blackwood flutes, and a couple of others. Also a Copeland high D and low D brass whistle. I gave the Copeland flute a try and thought it was quite nice.
