Help needed in finding....

Hope to get some advice…Does anyone know who is making metal simple system flutes in Germany? I undersatand they are for schools and then the students move up to the other system eventually? I also thought that the flute bands/Fire Brigade etc here in De. used fifes only (no keys) so this info regarding x5 or x6 keyed metal flutes is new to me. Any help or directions for buying would be much appreciated

Never heard about keyed simple system flutes made of metal, at least not recently…the english makers made a few, but no one here. Actually I don’t know who would want to play them. What is more or less common among Spielmannszüge here is the Querpfeife, basically a fife, seven tone holes and all that. A company named Sandner makes them. They’re usually in Cb (yes!). I doubt that’s what you’re looking for though. At schools everyone starts on (cheap chinese) Boehm flutes and move up to more expensive ones later. Simple system flutes are not used here, only in special baroque/old music ensembles and such. For “modern school music”, they’re dead.

Just the old ones: http://www.oldflutes.com/temp/chapelain.htm

Thanks for the quick replies…I thought this as well regarding the German fifes etc however I’m informed some rep tried to sell his wares in Glasgow GB some time ago & am chasing for more detailed info. Maybe this firm Sander might know if you have a link to them G… can you send please I searched before but came up with little. Those old flutes…to give one like that to a school child would be like giving black grapes to a pig LoL there would be more than x1 hole to repair I fear.
