Flute player looking for old flutes for band project

Hi Im David just new to the site. I am currently in the process of starting a small corps of drums band in my home town. Problem is getting old simple system flutes, we are currently looking for E flat, F, and B flat bass flutes as well as old boosey hawkes, hawkes and son rudall carte and Hy potter flutes to achieve all parts of the score. Any help or info on these items would be greatly appreciated.

Regards David

This sounds like a very cool and worthy project.
So … bumperoo!

Sounds like a fun project but I haven’t seen any around if I do I will let you know.

Great idea!!! I’m also thinking of starting a simple system flute jogging orchestra here in Southern Sweden. So if any of you have one of those old fashioned wooden English flutes stamped Rudall & Rose lying around unused, taking up space, I’d be more than happy to take them off your hands. I’ll even pay the postage to Sweden and give you a modern brand new silver flute with case in exchange

I had a similar initial reaction – “he wants to do WHAT? … With WHAT???” – but I’m assuming that David’s band isn’t really going to march much. More of a standing around or concert setup that just plays the old band music, right?

Yes people we arent going to be a marching band we are hoping to sit down with the music stands and play at official competitions. We are hoping to play marches like aces high, San Lorenzo etc as well as Scottish jigs and reels. To stempjacket i have no rudall rose flutes but i do have a rudall carte six key ebonite piccolo in d or low pitch e i think. We currently have Hawkes and son London F, B flat flutes as well as a hawkes and son excelsior sonorous piccolo in ebonite so again anyone no of any e flat flute, e flat piccolo, f or b flat bass for sale let me know thanks.

Thanks for the clarification, David. I think flute bands are a part of the tradition a lot of us have near-zero familiarity with – so it’d be great to hear more. Good luck, and if I come across anything, I’ll let you know.
