Hamish Napier - new Scottish whistle / flute CD

As far as flute and whistle playing is concerned, Hamish Napier is one of Scotland’s best-kept secrets, and that should change, in my opinion. Hamish is probably best known as a keyboard player and singer, from his time spent as a member of the group “Back Of The Moon”. He’s finally got round to recording a CD, all of his own compositions, featuring his undoubted ability as a player of both flute and whistle. It was released in Scotland only a few weeks ago, and there are a couple of clips posted on “Youtube” - see links below.
The title of the CD is “The River”, and it comes in a very well-produced “digipak” with excellent sleeve notes, and some wonderful photos. In Scotland we have nothing like the number of recordings devoted to whistle and flute such as is the case in Ireland, and although there is no traditional music on this CD, it is a very welcome addition to that genre.
I have no commercial connections with Hamish or this recording, other than it was my brother who made it, and sent a “Promo” copy to me for use on the local community radio station folk / traditional music programme which I co-present each week.

Thanks Kenny. I went ahead and bought Hamish’s album. It’s brilliant. Well done!

Interesting! Hamish and Marc Duff are supposed to be bringing out an album together soon.
