My, what a big dingus you have! ![]()

That is certainly not a Joe Kennedy set. Is there another Kennedy that makes pipes?
Novice Piper
Likely Alf Kennedy (of Cork, as stated in the listing.)
I actually work about 5 minutes from this shop - i’ll go see if i can have a look at them tomorrow. I have a feeling i’ve seen this set before, but i’ll know more if/when i can get a closer look at them.
If i can add anything concrete before the auction ends, i’ll post it here (but probably not until lunchtime or so - that means only about 2 hours before the end of the listing.)
Be seeing you,
eric.
Funny thing, there was William Kennedy, an 18th century pipemaker, Alf Kennedy in the 50s and later, and now Joe Kennedy. Conceivably you could have a set with parts by Kennedy, Kennedy, and Kennedy.
We’ve all heard about Patsy Brown by now. There was another maker named White - possibly Ned White but he may have been too early for this - who made excellent Taylor style pipes; and another Taylorish maker named Greene. So you could have a White/Brown/Greene set.
Kevin, just two points:
Keep up the good work, always enjoy your enlightening posts! ![]()
Kevin may have a lot of time on his hands, there’s so often a little glitch. Actually there was Maurice or Moss [Mossie] Kennedy in Cork during the fifties and when he died during the early 80s there was his son Alf for a while. So you’d get a Kennedy, Kennedy, Kennedy and Kennedy.
So, where you you when which one died???
Alan
And if you were playing on of these in the 60’s would you be playing a Kennedy, Kennedy, Kennedy and Kennedy during Kennedy?
Nyuk. Kennedy².
Hey ho,
I’ve just come back from seeing the set. For those of you voting Kennedy/Kennedy/Kennedy/&c, the correct answer is Kennedy/Burleigh, of all people.
The (Alf) Kennedy chanter is playing (halfway) decently, but there’s no reeds in the drones. There’s also no room in the stock for regs. They’ve asked me to see to the drone reeds, and do some general shoring-up. I dunno if they’ll be back on eBay once that’s done.
Be seeing you,
eric.
IT’S BACK OUT THERE! $1916 starting bid!!

curious- where in cork is his shop?? Didn’t Dennis Brooks have a Kenndy set???
Denis plays a Kennedy set, yes. He wrote of the chanters being rather harsh and loud, I believe his has a couple coat hangers in the bore. Tomas O’Cainainn plays a Kennedy set too, I think. Ciaran O’Mahoney [sp?] in Seattle has a set of theirs too, I think.
